We are all about getting out there and giving it a go, doing your own thing,
creating your own experience.
If you already have some white-water experience and are comfortable in a wilderness environment we
can rent you all equipment needed to run the Clarence / Waiau Toa River.
Maybe you already have some gear but need more to make your trip feasible?
Our rental gear is the same gear we use on our guided trips and therefore of a standard approved by
Maritime NZ.
We can supply rafts, paddles, lifejackets, helmets, barrels, dry bags, repair kits, tie-downs, oars, frames,
tarps, maps, boxes, coolers, fire grates, cooking equipment, and more... Talk to us about your
requirements. A minimum skill level is required.
Safety
Although you will be out there doing your own
thing, your safety is still important to us.
Every group that rents rafts from us will have a satellite phone, a repair kit and rescue
equipment. This is a minimum requirement for
your safety and our peace of mind.
Training
If your skills are a bit rusty, not sure if you are
good enough or just not confident,
Clarence River Rafting will run a pre-departure
training day for you.
In participating in this training we aim to help you
identify where the skills in your group are,
recognise river hazards and manage your own
trip down the river.
Not only will you know how to steer a raft, but also how to repair a raft plus some basic rescue and river
swimming skills.
This training also allows us to assess your skills.
It may be that, at the end of the day, we decide that the
best way for you to be safe out there is to still run your own trip but hire one of our guides to go along
with you.
